Using RQM Books with Claude

Publish at https://rqmbooks.com/docs/claude-connector before your listing goes live. Anthropic requires public documentation by the publish date, and this URL is referenced from the connector's metadata.

Connect RQM Books to Claude and ask about your books in plain language. Claude reads your invoices, customers, items and reports, and — if you allow it — can draft invoices and journals for you.

It works with the company you are signed in to, and only within your own RQM Books permissions.

Before you start

You need an active RQM Books company and a Claude account. You do not need a developer, an API key, or anything installed.

Connecting

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
  2. Find RQM Books and choose Connect.
  3. You are taken to RQM Books. Sign in if you are not already.
  4. Review what the connection is asking for, then choose Allow access.

You are returned to Claude, and RQM Books appears in your connector list.

Choosing permissions

The consent screen shows what the connection will be able to do. You decide.

Permission What it allows
View your accounting data Read invoices, customers, items, the chart of accounts, VAT figures and financial reports.
Create and change invoices Raise invoices, edit them, change their status, delete them.
Create and change customers Add customers, update details, activate or deactivate.
Create and change items Add products and services, update prices.
Create and post manual journals Draft journals, post them to the ledger, create reversals.

Read-only is a complete, useful setup — most people start there and add write permissions later if they want them.

Whatever you approve, the connection can never do more than your own RQM Books role allows. If you cannot post journals in RQM Books, neither can Claude on your behalf.

Before it changes anything

Every action that writes to your books asks you to confirm first — creating an invoice, editing one, posting a journal. You see exactly what will happen before it happens. Reading never prompts.

Two things Claude cannot do, whatever you grant it:

Things worth knowing

Check the figures. Claude is an assistant, not your accountant. Review anything it drafts before you issue it, and confirm any figure you are going to rely on against the report in RQM Books.

It sees one company at a time. The company you were signed in to when you connected. To use a different one, disconnect and connect again while signed in to that company.

VAT tools report, they do not file. They show your position and flag problems. Filing with the Federal Tax Authority stays a deliberate act you take in EmaraTax.

Large requests get trimmed. Ask for a narrower date range or a smaller list if a response comes back truncated.

Disconnecting

RQM Books → Settings → Connected applications → Disconnect. Access ends within the hour. You can also remove the connector from Claude's own settings.

Privacy

What the connector collects, how long it keeps it, and who sees it: Privacy Policy.

In short: accounting records are fetched per request and not retained by the connector; conversation contents are never stored; nothing is used for model training; and payment details are out of reach entirely.

Getting help

If a tool returns an error, the message usually says what to do — reconnect, narrow a date range, or ask an administrator for a permission. If it persists, send us the message and roughly when it happened.
